Have you ever heard of quantum physics or quantum mechanics? The name alone sounds pretty intimidating to me. I’ve always liked science (dissecting things and stuff), but never thought of myself as smart enough to really understand most of it…especially something as complex as quantum physics! Here is a story about how I came to learn about this scientific area of research and study, and how it has changed my life.
I recently sold a business and decided to do some soul searching to see what I’m really supposed to be doing on this earth. Why am I here? What is my true purpose? I read books, went to seminars, joined groups and waited patiently for my “gut” or “soul” to yell out the answer. I believed that if I listened closely enough and long enough that the answer would just pop up.
About six months into this process I started getting a little frustrated and impatient. That beam of light or inner voice or whatever I was waiting for did not come! I finally decided to give up on the nonsense and start looking for a job. I knew what I liked and didn’t like…and I knew what would work in my family situation. I didn’t really want a J.O.B. as I had been working for myself for the past 6 years and had always been a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit. However, getting a job seemed to make the most sense and would give me an opportunity to try something new…maybe I would just happen upon my passion and purpose that way.
As I was hunting on the internet, I came across an ad for a home based business. Something about the ad caught my eye, so I clicked on it and started reading about a direct sales company that creates personal development products and seminars (you know, self-help stuff). Well it just happens that I enjoy improving myself in many different areas (career, health, exercise, relationship, sales, etc.) and have always read books, listened to CD’s, watched DVD’s and participated in seminars. I decided to give it a try and go through the 2-month personal growth series. After all, they offered a 100% money back guarantee. If I didn’t like it at the end of 2 months, I could get my money back…how could I go wrong with that?
Anyway, I started down the path of the Discovery Series. This is bar-none the most powerful personal development product I have ever come across, because within the first 3 days I had “aha” moments that pulled me out of a depression, exposed my passion, and helped turn my marriage from an “are we going to separate” place to a “we really do love each other and are going to work through this” place. I wasn’t even to the relationship section yet and had completely changed the course of my marriage and my FEELINGS about it. Wow.
The course was life-changing. Not only did I discover very quickly what my passion and purpose is in life, I made great strides in relationships with my family and friends, I started looking at life in a completely different way, and I have been able to bring a lot more joy and productivity into everything I do.
One of the biggest things that happened during the course was that I became fascinated with the idea that “thoughts become things,” or that our reality is completely and totally created out of our thoughts. Hmmm? Things don’t just happen to us requiring us to react…..we can actually create our reality by the way we think about things and the way we decide to react to events.
My interest in energy within the universe, the law of attraction and quantum physics was born. I have started learning everything I can about these things. Not only has it opened my eyes to a completely different world, it has made me realize that I am smarter than I thought (I actually understand a lot of the science stuff!).
All of this new information has me completely jazzed about my life and the endless possibilities I have before me. I am now a direct sales representative for the company that created The Discovery Series (the one that started me down this journey), and I am dedicated to educating as many people in this world as I can about the power of their thoughts and the REAL control they have over their reality. Most people don’t have a clue as to how much power they have….and many would never seek out the information. Making the information easy to understand and easily accessible to people is the key!
In my next Brainpower post, I’ll go into much more detail about quantum physics and how it relates to our thoughts and reality. Feel free to share your experiences on the topic of thoughts and how they shape our reality. We can all share and learn together!

I am not a very good dieter. I never have been. I consider myself someone with very little will power, but I have found some strategies that help keep me healthy and fit. Here are a few of my secrets:
I THINK of myself as a healthy, fit person. I know that I will make good eating choices, while at the same time I believe that “everything in moderation” is the way to live. I enjoy all types of foods, including sweets, butter, bread, meat and fast food. Does this work for me because I’m stronger, smarter or just naturally thin? NO!
There have been times in my life when I knew I needed to lose some weight. The latest diet craze would catch my eye and I would think, “I can do that.” I would then buy the book or the pill or whatever was being offered. I would get into a tense state of mind where all I thought about was food and what I would eat next (or couldn’t eat). Because I THOUGHT about it so much, I felt hungry all the time. Given that I’m not a person with much will power, I would give in to that craving and I would eat even more than when I wasn’t on a diet. “Well that didn’t work very well,” I would think to myself! Have you ever been on that merry-go-round? Maybe you had great will power but you still felt like you were starving yourself. Maybe you even lost some weight or a lot of weight. Did you keep it off?
There are things I do regularly that anyone can do. They are based on psychology, attraction and understanding the subconscious mind. Much of the time we feel we have no control over our actions. That’s because our deep-seated beliefs and habits are creating our actions instead of our conscious thoughts creating our actions. Here is my 5-Step Process:
1. I establish my level of DESIRE. I must have a STRONG DESIRE for something in order to create change. Once I am certain that DESIRE is there,
2. I work on retraining my subconscious mind. I create a personal statement about who I want to be (as though I already am) and read that statement aloud at key times during the day. Here is an example:
3. I read the statement, and while reading it, I am picturing and feeling myself being that person. I may read it several times per day, but it is critical that I read it RIGHT BEFORE CLOSING MY EYES to sleep, and again right after I wake up in the morning.
4. Next, I live my life normally, concentrating on the good things that are going on in my life – I have wonderful kids, I have a loving husband, I have a job I enjoy, I live in a beautiful town, I love the weather this time of year, I have great friends that make me laugh, etc. Whatever it is that gives you joy and makes you feel good about your life….those are the things to consciously notice throughout the day.
5. I try NOT to dwell on food, eating choices, weight, etc. throughout the day. Just keep reading your statement every night and every morning. You may notice some subtle changes in your behavior. When you do, celebrate the change. Pat yourself on the back and say something like, “I enjoy making good choices!” or “That was easy! I enjoyed my meal but easily stopped when I was full.”
There are a couple of key things to point out regarding this method. If you are familiar with attraction and the power of our thoughts, this will make perfect sense to you. If not, you may want to do a little research on the topic. Philosophers, spiritual teachers and some of the most successful people in our history are adamant about power of thought. People use different descriptions, but it all boils down to this: THOUGHTS CREATE REALITY.
Here’s an example. I don’t like Mondays. Everyone knows that Mondays suck, right? I wake up on Monday morning, groan about it being that crappy day again and then stub my toe getting out of bed. I then find that the hot water isn’t working properly. These things reinforce my BELIEF that Mondays are bad. All day long, things unfold to reinforce that belief, so my deep rooted belief from now on is that Mondays are bad and will be challenging. On the flipside, I LOVE Fridays. Friday is the end of the week, everyone is in a good mood, I get paid, I have a couple of days to rest and play…..and guess what? Friday does turn out to be good for me. Everything runs smoothly, people greet me with smiles and maybe even a nice surprise shows up that day. This reinforces my belief that Fridays are good.
Guess what? I really do like Mondays! I think Mondays are great and I expect them to be great. I get a lot done on Monday, as it is one of my most productive days. Why do you think that is? It is because I BELIEVE Monday is going to go well for me. I have THOUGHTS (both conscious and subconscious) to reinforce that belief, and then my thoughts help shape my REALITY so that I actually experience a great day on Monday. My thoughts are shaping my reality and I get to choose what my thoughts are!
This was a long example to make the point, but it works the same way with diet and body image. If you think you are overweight or that diets don’t work or that you’ll never be able to lose that last 10 pounds, then guess what? You are correct! But what about those times when you proclaimed, “I will lose the weight this time!!!” and really meant it? It probably didn’t work or you wouldn’t be reading this article. Our emotions and intentions are VERY strong at times, and then they wane and we find it hard to gather up the will power to take the action needed. In addition to that, when we diet we are thinking about food all day long, so we feel hungry all the time. Life SUCKS when we feel deprived, so we feel sorry for ourselves and eventually cave in and go back to old habits. We make a conscious statement and truly believe it in the moment, but somewhere deep in our subconscious mind we are telling ourselves that it is too hard or that we’ll never be thin or that big is hereditary…. Sound familiar? You may even say these things aloud or try to shove them down and ignore them.
Unfortunately, ignoring our subconscious thoughts does not make them go away. We actually have to re-train our subconscious and it takes some time. That’s where the 5-step process comes in. If you follow it with consistency and belief, your inner thoughts will change.
I challenge you to work on changing your core, subconscious beliefs about your weight and food. Try following the steps above for at least 30 days straight. See what happens. Think of how much easier this is than following some rigorous diet. This will not be a “get skinny quick” method, but it is a method that might change your thoughts and feelings about your weight and food in general for a lifetime. Wouldn’t it be nice if you never have to think about or stress over your weight or what you can/cannot eat again?
Feel free to post your thoughts and experiences with this. I’m open to learning new strategies for living my best life too. I’m happy to help you in any way that I can, so feel free to contact me.
Peace & Prosperity to you!

P.S. The 5-step subconscious re-training method can be used for just about anything you have a strong desire for (money, career, health, relationships, addictions, etc.). Just change the verbiage and make sure you write down what you WANT rather than what you DON’T WANT. Keep it positive!

My son brought this home from school last year. I liked it so much that I posted it front and center on our refrigerator. At least once a week I read it aloud to myself and my kids to remind us that we can do ANYTHING we set our minds to. I love the cadence and rhythm – and it speaks very well to kids of all ages!
~
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it”;
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.

Now the media is talking of another recession. Are you worried that you might lose your job, your feeling of security or even your home? You are not alone! The media has a way of putting us into panic mode with their reports of lagging home sales and Wall Street declines.
If you are worried that your company may be downsizing and that you may lose your job in the coming months, what are you doing about it? Are you searching the internet for other job opportunities? Are you considering getting out of the rat race and finding a way to create your own destiny instead of depending on someone else to decide whether or not you get a paycheck?
My husband and I were faced with the exact same situation in 2002 after 9/11 and the collapse of the Telecom bubble. He had been in Telecom for 20 years but knew that his days were numbered. We didn’t wait for him to get laid off. We started looking for opportunities to take care of ourselves that didn’t depend on someone else’s opinion of our value and worth. The internet has so much information….too much in fact. You just never know what is real, what is not and who might be trying to deceive you. We knew, however, that we wanted to create our own destiny and were determined to find the right “thing” for us, so we pressed on. We trusted in the process and ended up finding a person on the internet who was very instrumental in helping us start our own business.
This gentleman helped us find a franchise that was right for us. We liked the franchise idea because it involved a proven business system, written processes and procedures, training and coaching. All of these elements tremendously increase the likelihood of business success. The biggest downside to most franchises is that they require a significant amount of start-up capital. We were faced with finding a bank that would lend us over $100,000, and that included us coming up with another $40,000 on our own. This was a new franchise concept, so many banks didn’t want to touch it. We were determined because we believed in the concept, and we were able to come up with the money and secure the loan. We ended up running a very successful business for over 5 years before deciding to sell and move on to new adventures.
Once again, we were faced with what to do next. These days, business loans are much harder to come by. Brick and mortar businesses are great, but there is a lot of liability and overhead expense involved…one of the things I didn’t like about the franchise we sold. I decided to write down my top goals in life. I wanted to help people, although I wasn’t 100% sure how, I wanted to travel the world, and I wanted to have flexibility so that I could participate with and enjoy my kids as they grow up. Once again, I started poking around on the internet. One day, an ad on a Linkd In page I subscribe to caught my attention. I delved a little further and was shocked at what I found. This company promotes a product that helps people become the best they can be, it provides an opportunity to travel to the coolest places in the world, and it is a home-based business that provides a lot of flexibility.
OK, a lot of home-based opportunities claim to provide these types of things. I decided to do my due diligence and to find out everything I could about the company. The company was an open book about their products, services and compensation plan. One of their main goals is to have integrity in everything they do. I tested this one too but couldn’t find an ounce of hidden agenda or lack of integrity. This company operates much like a franchise and offers proven processes and procedures, thorough training, and coaching from the top performers. The people in this company are a community. They believe fully in helping one another grow and prosper. I was blown away. I am now living my dream with a wonderful community of like-minded people who provide an awesome array of personal development products. Just what I’ve always wanted – to help people be their best, to rub elbows with some of the most influential personal development experts in the world, and to be able to make money doing it. Life is great!
Do you get as excited and jazzed about this stuff as I do? If so, check out this link and start doing your due diligence: www.theofficiallifestyle.com/mastermindgroup. I encourage you to follow your dream, whatever it may be. Once you do, you’ll never look back!
Peace and Prosperity to you.

I recently came across this quote. It so inspired me that I printed it out and put it on the wall behind my PC. I read it daily to remind myself of what I can accomplish if I don’t let fear, excuses and hesitancy hold me back:
Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issued from the decision raising in one’s favor all manner of unforseen incidents and meetings and materials assistance which no man would have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
Begin it now.
–Goethe
How often have you been inspired to take a new path or start a new project? How many of those times did you stop midstream because of a setback or because someone told you it couldn’t be done or it wasn’t a “smart” thing for you to do? You are a unique individual, different from every other human on this planet. Only you, at your core, know what is best for you.
Follow your passions. See where they take you. You will step out of your comfort zone on this journey, but if you press on it will be the most exhilirating journey of your life.
